Another quick update.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to toss an update on the site. I'm trying to do this weekly and I just so happen to have a good chunk of news.
The scripts for Super Jake Land #1 and Legion #4 are finished! I think that's pretty good news. Now I just have to get up and draw the things.
So that makes a total of three issues that are ready to get drawn up like curtains (include my Legion #3). That's really exciting for me, as I am starting to get back into the groove of things. I'm making time when I'm at home, on breaks at work, and even on my train rides to and from the office to get a good rhythm going between writing and drawing. This also marks the end of writing the first arc of the book which is monumentally exciting for me as well.
I wanted to add a bit of a bonus for you guys. A sneak peek at some of the bad guys Adam and the rest of Legion are going to be throwing down with in future issues. I drew this during my breaks and lunches at work over the course of about 2 days. I won't share any names or powers as of yet, but you guys will be properly introduced to these folks as time goes by.
I'll be back next week with more updates, and as always thank you for checking the site out.

Legion issue 3 progress.

Hello to all who might actually be reading this. It's been a long time, and quite a year.

Obviously I've gotten (quite) a bit off track from my monthly release schedule that I was trying to conform to, but I've got some good news! The script for the third issue of Legion is complete and I will start drawing the pages very soon!

I have been spending a lot of time this year focusing on work, family, and stability. I have had the opportunity to meet some great artists and writers within the comic industry and I am happy to say that I can consider some of them are my friends!

I've also moved in with my girlfriend and her kids, which has definitely changed the dynamic for how I produce my content, especially while working a 40+ hour a week office job in downtown Denver.

But anyway..back to the news you actually came here to hear. The third issue focuses a lot on Checkpoint and her fight with the Walking Bomb, the last member of the Cockatrice. There's even a cameo from a (very) old character of mine in the beginning of the issue!

I'd also like to announce that my good friend Will Dieterich has kindly created two pieces of art to be used as the very first Legion guest artist covers! Adam Atom and Checkpoint look fantastic and I can't wait to get these put on issues!

Be sure to 'like' Will Dieterich Art on Facebook for more amazing stuff from my pal.

I also wanted to say a few things about my other projects, Super Jake Land. and The_Shift.
I am still determined to get the first issue of Super Jake Land out this year, and I will be focusing on working on it as soon as the third issue of Legion wraps production. Super Jake Land will be one of the "main" Chickebrain books alongside Legion and another unannounced title.

The_Shift is more of a unique beast to conquer, and I have already started working on the script for the first issue. I'll reveal more info as I move forward, but the process for this book is going to be very slow. It's a very personal book to me, so I am taking my dear sweet time with it. I'm still not even sure if I want to have it published on this blog.

I have also done various pieces of fan art based around the characters of Valiant comics, if you guys haven't checked them out I would definitely recommend giving them a read, they have some of the most talented teams creating these books and they are a ton of fun.

As always. I thank you for checking out this blog and hopefully you will be reading Legion#3 very soon!

Legion Issue 2 progress!

It's been a long time coming, but I am finally making some progress on the second issue of Legion. I'm trying to get this thing finished before Christmas, or at the end of the year at the latest. I took a lot more time to ink the pages properly and it definitely shows (The first issue was used as a final project for a college class so it was a bit rushed). I'm still having some issues scanning the images into photoshop so I am still using illustrator to straighten up the line work with live trace, however since I inked the actual pages before I scanned them in they are showing up a LOT better even with the live trace. So issue 2, while still using some of the techniques used in issue 1, is overall massively improved. I definitely need to invest in a better scanner next year. Overall I have 10 pages colored, which means I have 5 more pages of the main story and 5 more for the backup. Since I started working on this issue WAY back (around when  finished the first issue) there is going to be a part where the art style changes a bit because I've refined and improved my style a bit. I'm hoping it's not too jarring, but I didn't want to get rid of those older pages because I remember being pretty pleased with them when I originally did them. I got a lot of feedback and apparently people really liked the backup story and were interested to read more about the "boy who blew up everything", and while I'm definitely excited to do more with the character, I can't promise anything more than the 5 page backups at this time, sorry guys!

As a bonus, here's an image from the second issue of Adam using his power to form a giant concrete fist! I'd hate to be the guy who is going to get whacked by that thing!

Thanks for reading! And remember...
