It's been quite a while since I last posted on here hasn't it? For the people really looking forward to Legion#3 I wanted to send out my sincere apologies for the wait. But it has not been in vain!
The past year or so has been a blur of lifestyle changes. From working on my comics out of my mom's basement, with barely any supplies, to moving out, starting a family, making connections in the comic industry, and refining my abilities.
I've been rabidly pursuing a career working for Valiant, one of my favorite publishers. So for the past year I have really been focusing on toning up my style, and getting my artistic act together so I could take this show on the road..in a matter of speaking. I'm not sure if I've been more obnoxious, or endearing in that respect, but it's been fun, and I fully intend to keep pushing to get some work from them. Maybe someday!
I created every possible social media account I could to try to get their attention and bombarded them with artwork
I've been talking a LOT with people in the industry, most notably Lewis LaRosa, who did some amazing work with Marvel and is currently making me feel completely inept as an artist with his breathtaking Valiant work, look the man up and see what I'm talking about. The talks have all lead me to get the proper tools, mindset, and skillset (sort of) to feel more confident with what I am doing here. My goal was to make each issue of Legion better than the last, and I truly believe I can deliver on that thought process now.
But first things first. LEGION is actually going to be going through a slight name change to, WE ARE LEGION, and I am tossing around the idea of going back and recreating the artwork for the first two issues after I finish the first arc, but a big part of me likes to look back on them and see how far I;ve come in the last few years.
One thing for sure is with a new name comes....
A new logo! Yes. I have gone through and remade the WE ARE LEGION logo (for the second time). I really liked the very first logo I had made, but felt that it wasn't quite sleek enough. When I made the second logo I felt like it lost the "Clock Design" that the L logo is supposed to have in favor of a more streamlined comic vibe. I'm glad to say that this third iteration is going to be the logo I move forward with, and I really REALLY love it! I'm actually going to be applying this type of design to ALL of my books moving forward to help establish the CBC brand name which leads me to....
The first cover for SUPER JAKE LAND! This art is actually really old, but like WE ARE LEGION I wanted to keep the old stuff I had so I could look back on it, the logo is 'all new and all different' though (hur hur hur). SUPER JAKE LAND #1 has already been written, and I will start drawing it after I finish the work on the first arc (4 issues) of WE ARE LEGION. Which leads me to my final point...
I have officially started work on the interiors for WE ARE LEGION #3! As I'm sure you can see, this is a VAST improvement over issue 2, and an even greater improvement from issue 1. I'm taking my time with this one though guys and gals, so I'm asking for your patience so I can make the BEST DAMN COMIC I can!
Until next time!
